Just over one year ago, a city normally filled with winding drive-thru lines and fruteros honing their knives under multicolor umbrellas was smothered by wildfire smoke. Militaristic sweeps have followed apocalyptic burning skies, yet Angelenos have anchored themselves.
In response to these crises, our debut issue asks: what roots Angelenos in LA?
Amidst days filled with doom-scrolling and paper-thin, ad-filled magazines, we're bringing back the days when print was fun. We explore how Angelenos cultivate a sense of home through 70 letter-sized pages of long-form storytelling, hand-drawn maps, crossword puzzles, personality quizzes, recipes, cut-out crafts, and Chinese food horoscopes.
This issue features work from 14 contributors with bylines in the Wall Street Journal, LA Times, Washington Post, Eater, Serious Eats, and Food Network. By purchasing a copy, you are supporting independent artists and writers.
